Linnea Swan

Linnea Swan is an interdisciplinary artist whose work lives at the intersection of dance, theatre and film. As a performer and creator, she has been an active contributor to the Canadian arts ecology for over 25 years, living and working in Vancouver, Winnipeg, Toronto and now Calgary. A graduate of The School of Contemporary Dancers and former company dancer with Ruth Cansfield Dance, TRIP dance company, and DanceMakers (under Artistic Director Serge Bennethan), she has also worked with many esteemed choreographers including Susie Burpee, David Danzon, Lesandra Dodson, Davida Monk, Claudia Moore, and Tedd Robinson among others. Her choreographic work has been presented across Canada - including The Canada Dance Festival, and Festival TransAmériques; and she was Associate Artist with Dancers’ Studio West (2018-2021).
Also a filmmaker of note, her work includes dance film, documentary shorts, web series, as well as video to accompany live performance and promotional videos for productions. Her work has been commissioned by The National Ballet of Canada, Chartier Danse, Corpus Dance Projects, The Dietrich Group, Canadian Alliance of Dance Artists, Sara Porter, The School of Toronto Dance Theatre, Stand Up Dance, and The University of Calgary among others. She enjoys leading DIY filmmaking workshops, and has acted as facilitator for Dancers’ Studio West’s Quick + Dirty Festival (2020/2021), and The School of Contemporary Dancers.
A multiple nominee for the Dora Mavor Moore award, Linnea received the Dora for Outstanding Performance in Dance for Road Trip, as well as the K.M. Hunter Artist Award in Dance. Linnea is Co-director of ReLoCate.
